After visiting the geographic center of California on one of our trips, we had the idea to try and visit the center of every state in the United States (and Washington D.C.).
Most states have odd shapes and there are different ways people have decided where a state’s center is actually is located. Whenever possible we try to visit the various centers but at the least we will take a look at the state’s geographic center.
The geographic center is the centroid of the two-dimensional shape of a region of the Earth’s surface. Basically, it is where you could balance a two-dimensional cutout of a state on a point if you so desired.
Join us on our journey to visit the center of every state in the United States of America.
States are listed in the order we visited their centers.
1. California | 2. Arizona |
3. New Mexico | 4. Utah |
We also have a playlist on YouTube featuring all of our Journey to the Center of the States videos.
